In the last few days, I’ve heard two very funny Spanish phrases I really like! In this article, I’m going to share them with you and you’ll easily add them to your vocab. Furthermore, they’ll give you a good taste of witticism Hispanic-style!
Here’s a funny Spanish phrase that is very subtle. This is a Mexican way of describing snobby folk who look down on others. This phrase is one of my favorites, it is so descriptive in a typically Hispanic way:
Le echa mucha crema en sus tacos – She likes plenty of cream on her tacos
It’s a bit like saying: She likes a lot of ketchup on her hamburger in English. Doesn’t it make the point brilliantly?
The second one was told to me by my friend Juanito who comes from Argentina. It’s used for those times when people are in a bit of a rage. You can use it when you see someone in a state of anger. It’s such a great phrase to describe this and it really tickled my ribs:
¡Voy a tener un ataque de caspa! – I’m going to lose my temper! – literally: I’m going to have a dandruff attack!
These two witty and simple Spanish phrases are sure to raise a laugh whenever you use them and they’ll win you respect and admiration throughout the Spanish-speaking world without a doubt!
